About

Continuum Mechanics Focusing on Singularities – Numerical Analysis & Scientific Computing 2026 (CoMFoSNASC 2026) is a conference that focuses on the modeling, numerical analysis, and scientific computing of nonlinear phenomena. It covers both theoretical developments and computational approaches, aiming to showcase recent advances in applied mathematics and its practical applications. The scope spans a broad range of topics related to partial differential equations.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Through invited talks and interactive sessions, participants will engage with leading experts, exchange ideas, and gain insights into mathematical frameworks and computational methodologies for addressing complex nonlinear problems across disciplines such as physics, biology, and engineering.

CoMFoS Meeting

The conference is organized in conjunction with the 2026 edition of CoMFoS, which was initiated in 1995 under the auspices of the activity group "Continuum Mechanics Focusing on Singularities (CoMFoS)" of the Japan Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (JSIAM). From April 2010, the activity group CoMFoS was renamed "Mathematical Aspects of Continuum Mechanics (MACM)". The links for the recent CoMFoS meetings can be accessed here: CoMFoS2020, CoMFoS2021, CoMFoS2022, and CoMFoS2023.

The last CoMFoS meeting took place on March 16–17, 2025, in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, in conjunction with MNANP2025, a workshop dedicated to the Modeling and Numerical Analysis of Nonlinear Phenomena.

CoMFoS–NASC 2026 is the result of the active collaboration between Kanazawa University and the University of the Philippines in recent years. This year, the conference is co-organized by the Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing (NASC) Academic Group of the University of the Philippines Diliman and by the Mathematics Program of the University of the Philippines Cebu.
